Angelina Jolie was born and raised in Los Angeles. She grew up with a Hollywood lifestyle and there are many people in her family who work in the film industry. Most notably is her father, Academy Award-winning actor John Voight. Although they don't get along very well, they star together in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
She worked as a professional model in London, New York and Los Angeles, and has also appeared in music videos for such artists as 'Meatloaf', Lenny Kravitz, Antonello Venditti, The Lemonheads, and the Rolling Stones.
Her big screen debut came in 1995 in the movie Hackers. Later she went on to win an Oscar for best-supporting actor for her performance in the film Girl, Interupted. Her film Mr. and Mrs. Smith was such a big hit that she is now set to earn $15 million to star in the film Good Shepard.
Jolie is well-known for her charity work for third-world countries. In 2003, she published Notes from My Travels, a collection of journal entries that talked of her early work with the United Nations. Angelina has even stated that she gives one-third of her income to charity. Not only does she give her time and money to help third-world countries, but she has also adopted two children, one from Cambodia and one from Russia.
She has been married and divorced twice, once to actor Jonny Lee Miller from Hackers and once to Billy Bob Thorton. In 2005 Angelina started another relationship with another actor, Brad Pitt. There were rumors that Angelina was the cause of Brad and Jennifer Aniston's breakup. In January 2006 it was confirmed that Angelina was pregnant with Brad's baby.
