This time we bring you a very special episode: Sonny's Osaka Story. This story details the exciting adventure I had while travelling to Osaka a few years back. One of my best stories. This true story is filled with crime, adventure, romance, drama, and wet shoes. Of course we also feature our usual fun with skits, real-fake commercials and Rupert's Japanese Proverbs. Episode 3: Getting a Move on ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sept 28, 2006 Episode 2: Pingin' & Singin' Hooray! Episode 2: Pingin' & Singin' ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sept 25, 2006 Hello there folks. We are busy here putting the final touches on Episode 2. Pretty excited about this one. I think it may be better than the first. Now I know what you're thinking, "How could it possibly get any better?!" Well, just stay tuned. Also, we'd like to hear from more of you, so drop us a line and tell us what you think of show and what you'd like to hear in future episodes. That's about it for now. See ya soon. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sept 14, 2006 Episode One: Getting Here and There Our inaugural episode focuses on firsts. Namely, Sonny and Keiko's experiences of being new in Japan. There's getting off the plane into the highly pleasurable heat and humidity of a Japanese summer, and the very first izakaya visit on the very first night. We also discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly of Japanese trains: that they go everywhere; not being able to find the right platform; and catching trains going the wrong way. We also have our very first Out and About segment, where we go out into the streets of Japan and talk to unsuspecting Japanese people in their native environment, though not in their native tongue. We interview four Japanese people about transportation in Japan: how they get to where they're going, how long it takes them, and sexual harassment. We hope Episode One was as fun for you to listen to as it was for us to make. Drop us a line with your feedback and we can only get better! Until next time, mata ne! Episode One: Getting Here and There ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- August 27, 2006 Pre-Debut: Hello World! Welcome to J-Talk, the podcast that brings you Japan from the inside out. Based in Nagoya, a fabulous city located between Tokyo and Osaka, J-Talk is all about all things Japanese, though mostly modern and pop culture, and what it's like for a couple of Americans to live here. My co-host Sonny and I've been in country for a combined total of eight years (Sonny's been here seven, just one for Keiko). In addition to scintillating conversation, J-Talk offers a whole bunch of fun segments for your listen pleasure. Out and About will feature interviews, such as with other gaijin living in Japan or Japanese-people-on-the-street. Polls, survey results, travel tips, Japan sounds, Japanese lessons will also be thrown in there for good measure. Please send us an email at <jtalk@nearyourear.com> and let us know how you like the show, how you hate the show, or any general, comments, gripes, or suggestions for future episodes. |
